SUMMARY:Sādhana Mālā  Yoga Sūtra Online Study Course  Chapter 1: Samādhi Pāda With Dave Charlton and Ranju Roy
DESCRIPTION:We are delighted to announce that we are offering an online study course on Yoga Sūtra Chapter 1 (Sādhana Pāda) open to all with some experience of the Yoga Sūtra and an interest in working within the Desikachar/Krishnamacharya lineage. This is an exciting opportunity to work with the authors of the recently published Embodying the Yoga Sūtra: Support\, Direction\, Space. \n \nWe will explore each sūtra in detail\, offering word-by-word explanations and key ideas from Vyāsa’s commentary. We will expand on the meaning of the sūtra from the perspective of the teachings of Krishnamacharya\, TKV Desikachar and Paul Harvey and also add Peter Hersnack’s unique interpretations where applicable. We will therefore embrace traditional perspectives and practical modern interpretations so that students can appreciate both. We aim to explore how we can apply the Yoga Sūtra creatively in our practice and teaching with due regard for tradition and contemporary lifestyles and situations. \n \nThis study course will cover all of Yoga Sūtra Chapter 1 and run fortnightly as an online Zoom session. \nEach meeting will comprise of 3 sessions: \n\n4 – 5pm (theory) \n5.15 – 6.00pm (practice session which may include some chanting)\n6.15 – 7.15pm (theory)\n\nThe first session will be on Fri 3rd July 2020 and final sessions on the weekend of 4/5th Dec 2020 \nTimings are based on London times. \n Full course Dates \n\nJuly 2020: Friday 3rd  & Saturday 4th\, Friday 17th\, Friday 31st\nNO SESSIONS IN AUGUST\nSept 2020: Fridays 11th\, 25th\nOct 2020: Fridays 9th\, 23rd\,\nNov 2020: Fridays 6th\, 20th\,\nDec 2020: Friday 4th & Saturday 5th\n\nMost sessions will be delivered by both Dave Charlton and Ranju Roy\, although some may be with only one of them. The sessions will be primarily theoretical with electronic handouts provided.
