DESCRIPTION:A Retreat Combining Chanting & Meditative Practice\nFocusing on traditional vedic healing chants \nwith Dave\, Ranju\, Ravi & Sheela Shankar \n \nThis 4 day retreat at Holland House will consist of optional early morning practices\, vedic chanting with Sheela Shankar and meditative yoga practice with Dave & Ranju. Approx half of each day will focus on the chanting with the remainder either free time or meditative practice. The meditative practice will include asana\, pranayama and seated meditation sessions\, accompanied by some silent free time. \nThis is a great opportunity to work intensively on some chanting material with Sheela Shankar who is visiting the UK from Chennai. Sheela was TKV Desikachar’s senior chant teacher at the KYM in the 1990s. \nSheela will also be available for a limited number of private chanting lessons over the four days. \nHear a sample of Sheela chanting \nhttps://www.sadhanamala.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Sraddha-Suktam.mp3\nLatest:\nRavi\, Sheela’s husband has also agreed to give some talks in the evening on the Ramodanta\, a traditional abridged version of the Ramayana – so absolutle bonus! \nDates\, Costs & Timing\nMon 29 July – Thur 1 Aug 2019\n(Mon 9.30am – Thurs 4.00pm) \nCost : £355 (early bird £325 before 30 May 2019) \nCosts for accommodation (single rooms) and full board (lacto-vegetarian with special diets on request) – paid direct to Holland House 2 weeks prior to the retreat – approx £320 full board for the 4 days (3 nights). We would strongly recommend that you arrive on the Sunday evening for dinner and settle in\, as there will be an optional 7am practice on the Monday morning. There is an additional cost for this\, but it would allow you get the most out of the experience.
