A workshop aimed at all levels of keen yoga practitioners and teachers, either involved in, or interested in finding more about, the viniyoga of yoga and the teachings of the yoga sutra
According to Krishnamacharya, the essence of Hatha Yoga is pranayama. Even in the Yoga Sutra, there are 5 sutra(verses) dealing with pranayama as opposed to 3 referring directly to the practice of asana (posture). This workshop will present the sutra on pranayama (seated breathing) and explore the application of conscious breathing both within asana and pranayama, which of course is a characteristic of this approach to Yoga. This workshop will be a mix of theory and practice , and handouts on the yoga sutra under discussion will be provided. Practice will be kept simple to illustrate some basic principles of this approach to practice and breathwork in particular, but with an emphasis on encouraging depth of experience.
